Do I have to be an athlete to take part?
No you don't.  You do need to be up for a challenge and be prepared.  Many people of all ages and abilities are welcomed.  We have had GB triathletes and complete novices.  Everything we do is encouraging everyone to get out and use the park.

Do I have to have special equipment?
You will need a wetsuit if the temperature is below 14C, a mountain bike, and some good running shoes.

I haven't got a mountain bike, can I still take part?
Yes!  Contact Hadleigh Park Cycles and reserve a hire bike.  (Note that you must use an MTB, not a gravel bike or similar.

I am not a confident swimmer or cyclist, can I practice and get help?
Yes you certainly can.  Hadleigh Plungers will be having open water swimming on the reservoir from 2nd March on  Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings.  Contact them at  Hadleigh Park Cycles are running training sessions on the route each Sunday morning at 8am (FOC), and coaching on demand...just send us an email.

Do I have to get sponsorship or donate blood to enter?
No.  This event is about raising awareness and donating if you can.  See Luke's page for more details on how to support the cause.

Is it easy to get a refund if I get injured?
Not necessarily.  These events are very time consuming to organise and there are a lot of expenses.  As with most other events we operate a strict policy on refunds:  up to one month before the event we will give a 90% refund and after one month before we give 0% refund.  We appreciate this can be difficult at times and hope all entrants understand our position.

Will the course change?
We hope not.  This years race is planned for a time where blue green algae risk is low, and the temperature should be acceptable.  As with all of these events we reserve the right to alter the course, including closing a leg.  This will only be done to keep the event as safe as possible.

Yes, yes, yes, but are there medals and trophies?
Yes.  We will give eco medals to everyone who finishes and eco trophies for 1st, 2nd, 3rd of all categories for the Triathlon, male and female, and 1st place for all categories of the Duathlon and Aquabike, male and female.

Do you need people to help and marshals?
Yes please, as many as possible.  We give you a lunch and everyone had a great time last year.  Just contact us.

Are spectators welcomed?
Yes they are.  It's a great spectacle for all, and this year there Elysium Eco Market, Ford Electric Vehicles, music, and of course the fabulous Hub Cafe.  It should be a really great day out for the family.
